The original piece was hand fabricated from sterling silver before its surface was transformed through reticulation, a process in which repeated heating and cooling creates an unpredictable landscape of ridges, folds and texture.
This original object has been reframed through sandcasting. Every casting retains the character of the first piece, but adds its new and unpredictable marks, irregularities and surface detail.
The arch form came from a lot of references, An arch can be a doorway, a shelter, or simply a curve that invites the eye to keep moving, Perhaps beacsue we are always moving through invisible thresholds. An arch gives shape to that passing, holding open a space between what was and what comes after.
