Hold is created from a solid length of sterling silver wire, shaped, formed, and hammered into a continuous ring with a hooked closure. The surface is left unembellished and finished with a soft matte glow, allowing the structure and weight of the metal to define the piece. Its simplicity enables it to act as a grounded, enclosing form, with charms able to slip on and off as part of its evolving use.
While making this piece I was thinking about containment. How certain forms can feel supportive, enclosing, or protective without being restrictive. The idea of holding became physical rather than surface based, existing in the tension, balance, and strength of the wire itself.
Designed to rest closely around the neck, the piece becomes a boundary that is present, supportive, and still.

Jewellery care is vital to ensure your piece lasts a lifetime. Most metal develops a natural surface patina over time, which will develop differently dependent on use and environment. Jewellery should be stored in a clean, dry environment while not being worn, preferably in the jewellery box it was presented in and away from other objects that may cause scratching.
The tarnishing process can be mediated by completely removing jewellery when applying creams, lotions, perfumes and keeping pieces away from moisture. Minimising contact between your metals and household chemicals will keep the piece looking fresher for longer. A gentle polishing cloth is recommended to buff your pieces from time to time.
